Rhythms, Language and the Developing Brain, by Pr. Usha Goswami
During their meeting, Langcog team will have the pleasure of listening to an invited speaker: Professor Usha Goswami (University of Cambridge). Her talk will be in English and it is entitled :
Rhythms, Language and the Developing Brain
Abstract Recent insights from auditory neuroscience provide a new perspective on how the brain encodes speech. Using these recent insights, I will provide an overview of key factors that appear to underpin individual differences in children’s development of language and phonology. I illustrate how the focus on these factors originated in our efforts to understand developmental dyslexia. I will describe our recent data from infants and children, demonstrating developmental continuity in some of the key neural variables.
